Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist and musician. She was the first woman in her age group to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is an Indian young sitar singer. She is a scholar and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. Her childhood years were split in London in London and New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years of age. She then moved to Encinitas CA, where she earned the High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha even though she is just 17 years old, has had an impressive recording and performing career. She has been performing with her father on stage for many years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Alongside performing at every major venue and venues, she also has a long stage career. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not just limited to music. In 2002, she wrote an autobiography titled Bapi The love of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which pays special tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. Her role was a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's work continues to unfold and we can expect to see a variety of things from her in years to follow. Anoushka Shankar is an English native who lived her early days split between London, Delhi and California. At the age of nine, she began studying music under her father making her performing first on the sitar 4 years later at his birthday party in Delhi. Alongside her father, he toured the world Anoushka had a wealth of experience performing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also performing together with George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
